Our Unique Learning Environment

At Mountain Trails, your child will enjoy experiential learning, hands-on activities, and the outdoors.

Mountain Trails offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum that stimulates even our youngest students’ cognitive, language, and motor skills through play-based activities, early literacy activities, and interpersonal interactions. Childcare and Early Childhood Education classes give your child access to professional teachers and team members who will provide caring and respect to your child. Your child will benefit from an early start on their educational journey.

The school will be located within Carlson Elementary School in Idaho Springs, Colorado. It is within a 15-minute drive from Floyd Hill or Georgetown along the I-70 corridor.

Child-Centered Learning

Our classrooms are designed to encourage independent learning and self-discovery. Our forest and expeditionary opportunities mean that your child will not be stuck in a traditional classroom all day every day. We aim to provide the type of nurturing and experiences that you yourself would lend your child.

Outdoor Classroom

The outdoors serves as a dynamic outdoor classroom, offering endless opportunities for experiential learning. Children are encouraged to ask questions, make discoveries, and connect with the natural world.

This program prepares your child for kindergarten by focusing on their natural interests and ensuring they become confident, creative thinkers. We use purposeful play and in-depth "studies" (long-term projects) for hands-on learning, conducted both indoors in special interest areas and outdoors, covering the whole child (social, emotional, physical, and academic growth). We track their progress using a Developmental Continuum and strongly prioritize Family Engagement, partnering with you every step of the way to achieve school readiness.

We respect each child’s individual journey and empower them to explore while learning life skills.
